As a result, clients have embarked on their journey of digital transformation, implementing various digital technologies such as cloud and edge computing, advanced robotics, digital twins, ML/AI, etc.

Our Digital team is looking for a Senior Data Scientist that is looking to develop a successful career in Data Science and AI with a strong process industry background. As the Senior Data Scientist, you will proactively work with both external clients and internal business owners globally to understand business requirements, translate them into advanced AI solutions, communicate value proposition through prototype development, and guide the implementation of solution to meet client’s digital needs.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Engage various level stakeholders from clients and business partners, gather business requirements and develop project proposals to translate them into digital system designs and/or solution recommendations

• Work together with clients or business partners to identify current business pain points and help create data-driven solutions to demonstrate new value proposition brought by data science and AI technologies, including but not limited to, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, quality predictions, throughput and yield improvement, energy and emission optimization, etc.

• Design and implement AI-based algorithms and systems at various levels such as mockup, prototype and/or production solutions, and provide suggestions to all stakeholders on the following areas: scoping, requirements analysis, gap analysis, feasibility, functional design, architecture, application configuration and development, integration testing, user acceptance testing, production deployment, support and training, etc.

• Prepare documentation (project proposals, user stories, functional specifications, design specifications, user manuals and test procedures) according to standards and need

• Work with solution architects and agile software development teams to implement AI algorithms/solutions and ensure the user stories and functional/design specifications are executed, tested, reviewed with the business, pitching in with any skills needed to get the AI-based systems delivered on time and on budget.

• Engage with clients and the business to implement effective change management and training practices when implementing solutions.

• Stay abreast of changes in technologies and tools as well as market and technology developments.

You bring to the role:

• 6+ years of development and deployment of machine learning and/or AI applications in process or related industries (for example, mining and metals, oil & gas, power, water, transportation, etc).

• Advanced knowledge in Python programming and hands-on experience of various ML/AI algorithms, such as unsupervised learning, supervised learning, deep learning and/or reinforcement learning using various ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, etc.

• Proficiency in developing data pipelines and ML/AI models in cloud computing environment such as Azure (preferred), AWS or GCP.

• Working experience in commercial analytical platforms, for example, Databricks, Dataiku, Knime, etc.

• Master or Ph.D. degree in mathematics, statistics, operations research, data science, data analytics, or related science and engineering field.

• High motivation and commitment to quality and customer service

• Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologies

• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with different levels of stakeholders from different parts of the world

• Excellent organization, multi-tasking and prioritization skills, ability to identify priorities, make decisions under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Effective management skills including time and task management, development of project plans and status reports

• Results-oriented, self starter, capable of working unsupervised and within a team

The following experiences and skills are considered an asset for the role:

• Experience in Generative AI (for example, GPT) applications.

• Experience in AI-based computer vision, location analytics, reinforcement learning.

• Working experience in operation improvement in process industry or asset maintenance and performance management in infrastructure/transportation industry.

• Understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies such as Cloud and Edge Computing, Digital Twins, Mathematical Optimization, Discrete Event Simulation, and other related solutions.

• Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft Azure, SQL, analytic tools like Python, R and/or Matlab, and data visualization tools like Power BI and/or Grafana would be beneficial.
